After the war

From Bill's daughter, Sue

After demob in Australia, Dad rehabilitated in Sydney before returning to the family property outside Young, New South Wales.
He was able to return to farming after he regained his strength and mobility.
Dad and his cousin Doug won trophies for their research into improving wheat varieties for the then NSW Department of Agriculture.
Dad was able to return to tennis and cricket, playing A grade in both.
In later life, he also took up golf again, playing at a good standard.
Our family moved to Sydney in the late 1950s, where Dad bought a garage.
He had always been interested in engines and how they work, and Dad’s working life inevitably involved engines and cars.
Dad, who loved tennis, took his children to most of our tennis lessons and matches.  One daughter became a very good player.
In the 1970s, Dad married an old friend.
After being ill for several months, our Dad passed away peacefully in August 1986, with his family around him.
